First Aid – A Little Help, A Big Difference
Characters: Narrator, Teacher, Riya, Anaya, Student 1, Student 2
Science: Two Accidents at the Same Time
Narrator: It is recess time. Two students have accidents at almost the same time.
Aarav: Ouch! I hurt my knee!
Aaryan: Oh! I hurt my hand!
Student 1: Riya, stay calm. First, let's make sure you are safe.
Student 2: Anaya, get up! It's just a small injury. Come on! We are going to lose points!
Aarav: But it hurts!
Student 1: I'll call the teacher. Don't move until we check your injury.
Narrator: Student 1 stayed calm, checked Riya and called an adult. Student 2 ignored Anaya's injury.
Teacher: What happened?
Student 1: Riya fell and hurt her knee. She is awake and talking normally.
Teacher: Good. Let's give her first aid.
Giving First Aid
Teacher:
First, we wash our hands before helping.
Student 1:
Now we'll gently clean the wound with clean running water and apply some antiseptic lotion.
Aaryan: Ah! That feels better.
Teacher: Now gently dry it and cover it with a clean dressing.
Student 1:
There! Your wound is clean and protected.
Aaryan: Thank you! It already feels much better.
Meanwhile…
Aarav: My hand is still hurting. It is getting more uncomfortable.
Student 2: Oh! We should have called the teacher earlier.
Teacher: Exactly. Riya received immediate care. Her wound was cleaned and protected quickly, so she was comfortable and could return to the game after being checked.
Aarav: And I kept playing without getting help. Now my injury is still dirty and painful.
Student 2: I understand now. Ignoring an injury doesn't make it disappear!
Teacher:
That's why timely first aid matters. It can reduce discomfort, protect an injury from further harm and help prevent complications.
Student 1: So what should we remember?
Student 2: Stay calm!
Aaryan: Check if the person is safe.
Aarav: Call an adult or trained person.
Teacher: And give appropriate first aid if you know how. And remember first aid is the first medical help given to an injured person before an elder or medic arrives
Narrator: First aid is not about being a doctor. It is about giving the right help at the right time until proper medical care is available.
Everyone together:
"Don't ignore an injury—stay calm, get help and give first aid!"
Speech/Presentation-
Good morning respected Principal Sir, teachers and my dear friends.
I am Naira Kalra, and today I am here to speak on the topic "The 3 Ps of First Aid: Preserve Life, Prevent Injury and Promote Recovery."
Imagine someone suddenly gets hurt. What would you do? Would you panic, or would you know how to respond? In such moments, knowing first aid can make all the difference.
First aid is the immediate care given to an injured or ill person before professional medical help arrives. To respond calmly and wisely, we can remember the 3 Ps of First Aid.
First, Preserve Life — check that the person is breathing and safe, and call for medical help when needed.
Second, Prevent Injury — make sure the surroundings are safe and avoid doing anything that could make the injury worse.
Finally, Promote Recovery - keep the injured person calm and comfortable, and provide basic first aid until professional help arrives.
The 3 Ps remind us to Preserve Life, Prevent Injury and Promote Recovery. A calm mind and the right action can make a real difference when someone needs help.
Thank you, and have a wonderful day ahead!
Positive Affirmations-
Good morning, everyone. Today’s positive affirmation is-
" I am calm and stable in every situation.
I stay peaceful and think clearly, even when things are difficult."
Conclusion
The assembly helped students understand the importance of responding calmly and responsibly during emergencies. The key takeaways were the three principles of First Aid: Preserve Life, Prevent Further Harm, and Promote Recovery. Students resonated with the theme as they realised that basic first-aid knowledge can help them support others and act confidently in situations requiring immediate care.
