events : Micro:bit Coding Workshop and meeting with British PM Mr. Rishi Sunak and first lady Ms. Akshata Murty

British Council organized a 4 days micro:bit coding workshop for Students from 7th,8th and 9th Standard. Three students namely Vaidik Garg from class 9E, Aaryan Prasad from class 8th E and Arhan Jain from Class 7th participated under the mentorship of the computer teacher Ms. Anupama Sharma.

Day 1 from 9am to 4.30 pm
Training was designed for the teachers from more than 20 schools from Delhi and NCR, which included introduction to the device which is minicomputer micro:bit and how to use it by doing coding through Microsoft micro:bit platform.

Day2 from 9am to 4:30 pm
Students were trained under the guidance of their computer teacher to use micro:bit device to code and to prepare a project based on SDG goal Good Health and Well Being.

Day3 from 9am to 4:30 pm
Students prepared a working model HIKERS HEALTH MONITOR under the guidance of their mentor, which can be used by mountaineers to send SOS signal if they face any health issue, using micro:bit and also to send confirmation message to base camp, that they have reached safely to the destination.

They also designed micro:bit wrist band to take care of mental health of hikers which helps to keep them calm by playing music as well as calming lights. The idea was appreciated by everyone.

Day4 from 9am to 5 pm
Students prepared to showcase their project in front of the VVIP G20 Delegates from UK and were surprised to know that VVIP is none other than the UK Prime Minister Mr. Rishi Sunak and his spouse, first lady Ms. Akshata Murty. Students presented their project and interacted with Mr. PM and were overwhelmed by the inputs given by Mr.PM.

Ms. Akshata Murty interacted with all the teachers and was very happy to see female computer science teachers.

Teacher and students were awarded certificates of workshop completion by the British Council.
